About Sebastian

Sebastian Stanley, the young and critically acclaimed British pianist has performed in all reaches of the globe. Since graduating from the Royal College of Music in 2008 his career has gone from strength to strength with his performances receiving rave reviews.

The critics have described him as 'a rare talent', 'destined for the finest concert halls', and showing 'astounding virtuosity'. Along with his solo recital and chamber music activities he enjoys performing on cruise liners throughout the world as a classical headline act. He has enjoyed much success in the UK and Spain particularly, where he has performed in hundreds of venues for concert societies, festivals and private parties.

Commencing lessons at the age of 13, Sebastian was a late starter to the world of the piano. After the astonishing progress he made in his initial two years of study, Sebastian gained a place at the RCM where he spent the following 8 years honing his skills. Some of the highly esteemed mentors that coached Sebastian during this exciting time were Niel Immelman, Ruth Nye, Christopher Elton, Menahem Pressler, Gary Graffman, John Lill, Joanna MacGregor and Stephen Kovacevich.

Sebastian can add several international prize wins to his expansive and varied resume: including the coveted Chappell Gold Medal at the RCM (2006), the London Emanuel Trophy (2007) and 1st Prize in the International Louise Henriette competition in Germany (2004). More recently Sebastian has also represented the small UK contingent of pianists in major worldwide competitions such as the International Grieg Competition in Bergen (2012), the International Scottish Piano Competition (2010) and the International Liszt Competition (2009). Sebastian has broadcast on BBC Radio 3's In tune and Breakfast shows, Celtic Music Radio, and was signed by the label EMEC Discos for a 4 year period.

Sebastian is passionate about bringing the music of Spain to the masses, and his first two discs 'El amor y la muerte' and 'Granados - Spanish Dances and Goyescas' have been praised highly and received numerous 5 star reviews. His next disc, a collaboration between himself and his duo partner, Jonathan Parkin, is due for release later in 2014. He is currently represented by Gary Parkes Music Ltd.
